One Dalton Construction Brings Change to Boston

Boston is one of the fastest growing cities in the country, and new construction is proof of its economic stability and growth. Businesses are moving to the vicinity and residential and mixed-use facilities are following in hot pursuit. One of the latest, and most prominent, structures to get underway in Boston's real estate development scene is the Four Seasons Hotel and Private Residence, which is sited at One Dalton Street. This premier establishment, with a present construction rate of 1.5 floors daily, is projected to change Boston's skyline. The luxury tower will rise 742 feet and have 61 floors; the highest living spaces will be at 699 feet. The layout of the building includes separate hotel and residential entrances on the ground floor, which lead to a lobby and restaurant. The floors above feature an exercise and recreation area with a pool, spa, and fitness center. The building will have 215 rooms in the Four Seasons hotel. The commercial component of the building extends to the 24th floor. Above that, the building is dedicated to private amenities. Town residences begin on the 26th floor and extend to the 43rd floor. The sky residences will go from the 45th through the 54th floor. Penthouse flats will occupy floors 55 through 59, and the penthouse duplex estates will be on the 60th and 61st floors. The 50th floor will feature a club lounge for residents. When finished, One Dalton will be the tallest residential building in New England. From the highest floors, residents will have views of the Charles River, Boston Harbor, the Berkshires, White Mountains, and even Cape Cod's shores. Construction is projected to finish in 2018, and condominium sales have already begun. The developer of the project is Carpenter & Co.

Pricing for the private residences will vary based on location in the building and amenities. The Penthouse Flats will feature skyline views of the city. Each flat will have its own balcony and high ceilings. A double-height terrace and outdoor fireplaces will create outdoor living space on the upper floors. One Dalton's residential apartments will have upscale kitchens with top appliances and brand-name fixtures. Amenity space in the building is expected to cover a total of 20,000 SF. On the interior, amenities will be on the 7th, 24th, and 50th floors. The building's list of amenities includes an indoor pool with floor-to-ceiling windows, a fitness center with strength training equipment, a private theater, a spa with massage tables and treatment rooms, a salon for hair styling, manicures and pedicures, and conference space. Residents will also have access to a laundry room and storage. Surrounding the complex is a 5,000 SF park designed by architect Michael Van Valkenburgh.

The combination hotel and residential building is located in Back Bay, which is historically one of Boston's most prestigious neighborhoods. The area includes distinct architecture, including brownstones with bay windows. The area also features notable natural landscapes including the Charles River Esplanade and the Public Garden. The Emerald Necklace is also an important geographical feature in Back Bay. Other amenities in the area include boutique stores, local retailers, cafés and coffee shops, and art galleries. The Boston Public Library, Prudential Center, and downtown center of Boston are not far from One Dalton, making it easy to get to and from places of employment and other city attractions. Several schools, including Northeastern University and Boston University, are also not far from Back Bay.
